Hi, I’m Kate

I grew up in Bristol and Somerset and moved to Durham twice and now settled here with my husband and children.

My family make up includes neurodiversity and specific learning disabilities.

A reader, a swimmer, a writer. I enjoy wide open spaces to walk and breathe.

Professional roles

My work life has been spent gathering experience and skills across a broad range of sectors. –

Public: engagement and participation of parents and carers in co-design of services.

Business: facilitating training and workshops for teams in wellbeing, using poetry as the primary tool for engagement.

Higher Education: support services for students, co-chair of women’s network.

Healthcare: specialising in sibling support in children’s hospice, holistic care mental health wards,  bereavement support acute hospitals.

Voluntary and community: Director of charity delivering detached youth work and mentoring. Personal support work for children and young people in further education and residential services with profound and complex learning disabilities.

Personal Bio Writing Facilitation Bio

I am a skilled practitioner in facilitated Reflective Practice for groups. 

My poems formed part of the Remembrance services for NHS Charities Together 2022, 2023 and 2024. 

I presented workshops for the Creative Bridges conference 2023. 

I hosted writing for wellbeing in therapeutic settings for the LLRC Lapidus International 2024. 

I work with business executive teams utilising poetry for wellness.
