Brigid is remembered as a goddess, or a saint who is celebrated at Imbolc, which marks the first turning of the wheel of the year in Celtic tradition.
what if, among the starting again
anticipation and waiting
we were to arrive at the realisation
we are not alone?
what if, among the disjointed patterns
of seasons, upon school terms, upon menstrual cycles,
layers that rarely align and leave us spinning,
we felt a hand reach out to take ours?
what if, in this moment of turning,
instead of stoically stepping onward,
resolute and singular
we were instead, to recognise ourselves
side by side in a great field
rows upon rows of rooted women
lifting their faces
toward the rising sun
